Devils interested in center Brendan Morrison?

The New Jersey Devils are still in the market for an offensive-minded center, according to the New York Post. One of the few still available is former Devil Brendan Morrison(notes).

Morrison's agent, Kurt Overhardt refused comment on whether general manager Lou Lamoriello is trying to sign Morrison, but did say "there are a couple of things going on," and that he expects the 33-year-old to sign somewhere in a few days.

Morrison had sought a trade from New Jersey when he was packaged with Denis Pederson to Vancouver for Alexander Mogilny(notes) on March 14, 2000.

Meanwhile, Overhardt said negotiations with the Devils for Travis Zajac(notes) have not hit any obstacle, despite Zajac's filing for arbitration as a restricted free agent, the Post reported.

"It's been very positive, but [arbitration] is one of the rights he has, and because we haven't agreed, we decided to file," Overhardt said. "I'm sure we're going to have more discussions [with Lamoriello]."
